1. Happy Valentine’s Day:
When Valentine’s Day is brought up, more often than not I hear someone say, “Valentine’s Day is overrated.” Why do we all immediately hate something that represents nothing but goodness and love? Well, it’s because we find it safer to reject Valentine’s Day all together before it can reject us. Because if we choose to celebrate it, then the next question becomes, “with who? …Who is your Valentine?”

I find it more admirable when someone who does not have a boyfriend/lover/spouse still celebrates Valentine’s Day and makes it just as special as any romantic couple would. The point is to be genuine with your love, and share it with whoever is most important in your life.

  2. I painted this Victoria’s Secret box to remind us to make Valentine’s Day our own, authentic expression of love. Their marketing does a great job of making us think of Valentine’s Day as the day when you deserve to get something sexy in a shiny box. If we don’t take a second to question, then that’s what it becomes. So, what I’m saying is that it is up to us to break the ideals and stereotypes about Valentine’s Day that cause us more grief than love! Decide how you want to represent this day, and make it special in your own way. Be creative! Be love.
